Fundraising and Events
One of the main things we do is fundraise. Together with our supporters we host a variety of community, corporate, and family fundraising events across the country.
This year, our Walk/Run for The James Fund went international.
The James Fund is a collection of families trying to save their kids. We are the largest neuroblastoma initiative in Canada and, together, we have funded some of the best neuroblastoma research in the world.
You may have your own idea for a fundraiser and we would be honoured to be the beneficiary of your fundraising event. Fire halls, schools, churches, clubs, businesses and people just like you have done wonderful things to connect our cause to their friends and others who can help and those who can give.
We get tremendous support from within the childhood cancer and neuroblastoma community as well.
Last year, Megan McNeil took the US and Canada by storm with her beautiful song called The Will To Survive, garnering some pretty impressive fans along the way, including Katie Couric. Megan used her song to raise money and awareness for The James Fund and for our good friends at BCCCPA, who provide support to families battling cancer in BC.
Megan didn’t have neuroblastoma, but she decided that it was the cancer that most needed her help. She rallied our flag in news stories in the US and Canada. She was named The Most Inspirational Person of the Year by CBC News’ Connect with Mark Kelley and her story was featured in the round up of the best stories on Canada AM as well. There were beautiful tributes to her in countless news outlets, including The Globe and Mail, The National Post and Global National.
Sadly, Megan lost her battle with her own cancer at only 20 years of age, but her legacy lives in her final wish to keep fighting childhood cancer, and to help The James Fund with her song.
Across the country, people are pledging events in her memory.
If you would like to pledge an event in honour of Megan, or if you would like to host your own kind of event, please contact Diana Birrell at DianadotBirrell at jamesfunddotca
Come be part of our success. Come be part of a cure.
